View Full Version : Get rid of Office assistant & user group box
I am currently using MS office 97 Pro.Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the "office assistant" that pops up everytime I start word? I would also like to turn off the user group box that pops up with the name and initials of the user when I open an application'

You can turn off the Office Assistant in Tools, Options if I remember correctly. I am not sure what the other thing you are talking about is, but it can probably be turned off in Options too.
You really truly want to do in the @#$%!@# paper clip?

For the identificiation box, if you fill in your name and initials and click OK it should not come back again next time.

Alternative method.
Add/Remove Programs "Office97" and then choose Add/Remove from the options after inserting the install CD.
Highlight "Office Tools" and click "Change Option". Uncheck Office Assistant and OK your way out.
For the future: if you are clean installing Office then use the customise option and ensure this checkbox is unchecked.
Thanks all, I think I've taken that annoying little guy out of the picture for good. The work group box has also been eliminated.
