Hi to All,

New to this board.

I have the problem of Windows I E version 6 not accepting cookies. I have the bar set at the bottom. I have uninstalled I E version 6, put in version 5.5, no difference, reinstalled version 6, same thing. I have upgraded to WindowsME from Win98. Still no joy.

I have read all the bulletins about cookies at Microsoft and none where helpful.

I do not want to re-format, as this is one big hassle.

I have ran anti-virus, Spybot, and ad-a-ware just to be a sure I was not infected.

I use InoculateIT anti-virus and Zonealarm for a firewall. I have run without Zonealarm to see if this might be suspect.

Nothing has corrected this problem. It did work for a long time before it went away. It is difficult to operate without cookies.

I installed Mozilla, and it works great.

Another thing someone told me that Mozilla would transfer all favorites when I installed it. This did not happen. I can import, but this works one favorite site at a time, as I see when I try it. I have approximately 136 categories.

Any comments about these two problems

TIA.

Easy way to import your Favorites into Mozilla.....

Go into IE, on the File drop down list, select Import/Export. Export your Favorites as html. Save that export somewhere you will remember it, then opn up Mozilla, under Manage Bookmarks => Tools select Import, point it to your saved Favorites.html.

<edit>

oops forgot anything about your cookie problems......

One thing to check, see if the attributes on your cookie folder have been set to read only. If so then you wouldn't be able to save any new ones.

Did this problem start immediately after installing IE6?

And how did you uninstall IE6 since this is not an easy thing to do unless you use a third party utility like IEradicator? http://www.litepc.com/ieradicator.html

Would be inclined to remove all traces of IE using IEradicator and then install either 5.5 or 6 "cleanly".

Hello Paul,

I did use ieradicator to remove Version 6. I then installed Version 5.5 and later installed version over version 5.5. I did not try to remove Version 5.5.

I think that I am going to use Mozilla for a while and see if anything comes up about the problem with cookies on I E.

Thank you for the reply.

Hi mjc,

Thanks for the reply. I checked the attributes and the read only window is not checked.

I did as instructed on getting the favorites from I E to Mozilla and it worked great. About 2 minutes for all the addys.

Thank you very much.

I don't use IE at home, so this may not apply.

That said, what are your security settings? Have you gone through all of your internet Options and made sure that you don't have any settings that would block cookies?

Hi Budfred,

I think I have checked and rechecked all the setting several times.

I have a glich in something. Most likely the register. I have ran regclean twice, did not correct.

The first thing I looked at was my clock. I know it is within two minutes of correct time.

I did not know about the, attribute, read only thing, but it was okay.

Thanks,

Juat a thought. Another thing you could try is to put the sites for which you want cookies enabled into the trusted sites zone in IE.

And have you cleared your cache recently??

HI Paul,

I have tried that also. It had no affect.

Would like for all to keep sending me suggestions.

Thanks for the reply.
