Hi guys. I have an appointment tomorrow with a lady who tells me that she is having problems with her MS passport and MS Messanger. I have never used either one of these products because I always deemed them useless. My question is , Is anyone here farmiliar enough with these two to tell me what I may want to loook for. I know Im not being specific but hoe to get some general guidance.
Gonna go check out MS site now.'
Thanks, FH

The pass port issue was account info related.
As far as the other problemis concerned: MS messanger is giving a network error refering to somewhere in the specific users profile on the local machine: something like, Network error occured with a read form file/C/documents and settings/User/MSM msgs1.msi
Hope this helps
Thanks FH

Unless she is actually using Messenger, the best bet may be to just remove it.

Yeah I figured I would remove and then reinstall to see if it clears up.

Here is one method:

Here's how to uninstall messenger for xp yourself:

1. shut down messenger if it's running
2. start
3. run

Type or paste the following command into the run dialogue box:

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection%windir%\INF\msmsgs.in f,BLC.Remove

I believe you can also disable it through Administrative functions. I can't remember the details, but I read about how to do it on BlackViper's site:
