i reformated the hdrive and upgraded 98sec with xpupgrade.
I tried to install medal of honour. But all the cdrom does is blink and nothing else.! any suggestions.

Does the CD-ROM work with any discs? You can check Device Manager and see if there's a (!).

It could be that your CD-ROM is simply not compatible with XP. Since it appears that your install is relatively new, is there any chance you can backup your data and fresh install XP rather than stay with your upgraded setup?

It most often seems there are less headaches with a fresh installation. You'd just need your 98SE disc for verification to do the fresh install.

Also try cleaning the CD.... and do a fresh install of XP

Insert any cd into the drive and got to star>>Run>>and type D:/
if anything comes up or says cannot find D:/ or one of its components that means your computer cannot read the CD drive or doesn't know it has a CD drive and youll have to re-install it etc.

I cleaned the disk (der)
Then did a fresh install of xp not the upgrade path.
No problems with it.
just have to get the patch
