View Full Version : auto boot a cd?

I now have a new computer with Windows XP.
How to I turn on the function that automatically boots-up a cd when I place one in the drive bay?
I looked around in the DOS file during system start-up, but nothing there looked familiar!
Thanks for your help. Dale

 are you trying to boot the system with the XP cd or your cd player just isn't reading any cd you put in the tray ???

I'm a bit confused too. But I think what you're getting at is the "autoplay" feature in XP.
If that's the case, open "My Computer". Right click on your cd-Rom(s), (under "devices with removable storage"), then select Properties.
Under the "Autoplay" tab, you can then select different actions you want to perform, or wether or not you want to be propmted to choose a certain action.
If that's not what you're after, you will have to give us more info.
Oh, and by the way...Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif forums :)
