Here's my problem:

I have a Logitech Cordless Desktop Optical (set of keyboard and mouse) and twice my mouse disconnected without warning, or just got very jumpy in movement. I thought it was a battery issue, checked capacity and sure enough, it was half drained.
I changed the battery and the same problem occured...

My keyboard had the same problem, but a click on the reciever and under the keyboard and it connected again.

The thing is, I think this is a software issue, this never happened while I was using a Mac (recent counter-switcher).

Right now I'm using another mouse (Logitech Dual Optical) and don't really mind that, but it is annoying not putting all of the set to use...any ideas?

I would look at where you have the base unit. If it is too close to the monitor, speaker or anything with an electrical field, it can cause problems in the function of the mouse and keyboard. If that isn't it, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the software, but I doubt that is it.

Anything you can think of that might also be cordless in the house...telephone, wireless headset, etc., that might be "too" close in frequency?

The base station is positioned right on top of my PC, not half a meter away from my monitor, speakers or TV.
My little brother also has a wireless Logitech mouse in the next room...am I screwed or would moving the base station further away help?

What you might want to do is just monitor your setup while your brother uses his computer in the other room and see if you note anything strange happening on yours.

I've a wireless headset that I also use on my computer with the Logitec keyboard and mouse and I noticed that I was occasionally losing signal to the headset. When it happened at the exact moment I clicked the mouse I knew I had the culprit.

Mind you, it didn't do everytime...the conditions apparently needed to be just right...

I would move the base off of the PC. I keep mine on a shelf next to my chair and about 2 feet from other electronic equipment and I haven't had any problems.
