Hi gang,

So far all the tips and advices I have received in here have been pretty usefull so I thought I would pick your brain with this one. When I look in my "Add/Remove Program", I see Uninstall Win98 Second Edition. Why is that there? I was under the impression that when I bought my PC that Win98SE was my OS. Does that mean that the tech intalled it after the fact? If so I guess it would not be a good idea to remove this from my PC right?

Advise please! Thanks

It shows that your Windows 98 SE installation was from an upgrade version and the previous Windows version was saved during the installation. You can free up some disk space by running Disk Cleanup and delete the backup.

I have seen the uninstall option too, although not in Add/Remove. Remember reading about it in a "95 for Dummies" book several years ago when we were using 95. Never understood the "reasoning" behind that; seems like a big giant booby trap for beginners to fall into.

Provided of course you don't wish to revert back to the previous version
