has any of u guys uses any memory ram that goes beyond 512mb.i'm currently using 512 mb ddr2700 ram on a msi kt4v-fisr mobo and thought of adding more.just wondering whether the terms more is better.my mobo can handle more but just wanted to know whether will it improves my pc performance or slow it down as it is too much? :eek:

It is unlikely to slow your computer down, but it is also unlikely to speed it up much. It depends a lot on what version of Windoze you are using. WinME can't use more than 512 without some software changes. XP can handle more and if you are doing graphics intensive (or other memory intensive) work, it may make a difference.

:D nah.i'm just using it for surfing,downloading and playing movies.kind of.i do alot of ripping burning and wondering with so much ram does that improves its performance for copying.i'm using windows xp home edition for your info.and by the way,i'm curious,does my cpu(amd xp athlon 2000+) has any part in burning cd?:cool:

Burning CDs and watching movies is RAM intensive, so it could be worthwhile to add more with XP as your OS. The CPU is a factor in burning CDs, but not as much as the drive itself. Your CPU should be more than capable of burning at whatever rate your burner can handle.
