Here's one even I can't figure out. My confirmation sponsor told me it.

There are 37 prisoners that have just been taken to a jail.
The warden comes out and declares that they each will be kept in strict isolation from eachother for the remainder of their stay. However they will have ONE hour to get a plan. Then he tells them they will go one at a time into a room with 2 light switches connected to nothing. The starting position of the two is unknown and shouldn't matter. They will flip/change the position of ONE of the switches. They cannot move both or none. You can be called any number of times to go in. (again remember you are in strict isolation from EVERYONE). The warden tells them if they can tell him when everyone has flipped the switch at least once they will be set free. They cannot leave a mark on the wall and cannot tell anyone that they've gone. (ISOLATION) If they are wrong they will be fed to the alligators.
How will they know everyone has gone?

Hints I got:
Try it with 3 first
37 is a prime number

Problem #2:
A man goes into a hardware store and asks the manager how much 2 costs. He said 60 cents
Then he asks how much for 20. He says $1.20
Then he asks how much for 200. He says #1.80

What is the man buying?

I figured out #2 but i can't get #1
I'll tell you if you are right.
GOOD LUCK:) :D :) :D :)

I'm trying to think of what he would be buying in a hardware store that would be priced like that. Here's an unconventional answer. He's buying logs. :D

edit: The more I think about the first riddle, the more I think I heard a variation of it on Car Talk on NPR. But I can't remember the answer.

Answer to #2:
He was buying house address letters for his house! a 1 for .60 a 10 for 1.20 and a 100 for 1.80:D
