View Full Version : Relocating My Documents Folder
Just reinstalled successfully Win2K after a corrupted registry thanks to a few guys on the board......especially sylvander - thanks mate.
I want to delete the My Documents folder on the C:\ because there exists one already on the D:\. When I go to delete it says that I can't! How do I set up the computer so that My Documents folder exists on the D:\ and not the C:\??

R-click MyDocuments on the Desktop and choose properties and then click the move button.
Browse to where you want to have it located. You will be given the option of using the current contents or the contents of the folder you are moving to. This folder can be called My Documents or anything else.
Try it out on a neutral/unimportant folder first just to see how it works.
PS Of course, you should then be able to go back to the one you don't want and delete it.
The Desktop MyDocuments folder is, in a sense, a virtual/special folder. The real folders are got to in their locations under the root directory they exist on.
