 My model HP 512c has a AGP video card. I want to add another monitor. It has 2 pci slots. One person says buy agp card with splitter. Another person says use PCI slots to add cheaper costing card. He has 2 computers figured this way, and they work fine. Need help, I'm not puter savy... Can I install card without destroying computer... TIA
Using a PCI video card in conjunction with an AGP card for dual monitor display can be done.
However, check your BIOS to see if you can select the AGP card as the primary graphics adapter.
Also make sure that the PCI card is compatible with the existing AGP card(Check with the AGP card's manuf. on this).

Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif
You should be able to install a card without blowing the system up. Basically it involves taking off the case cover, removing a slot cover, plugging in the card, closing the case and connecting the monitor. The software install may be more of a hassle in many ways. The main thing while doing the install is to respect static electricity. Stay grounded by keeping a hand on the case of some other grounded metal.
