I need a driver for my sound card, I have the Machine apart but is there an area, or number that I may refer to, that is on the card?

On the card will be a big black chip with a number branded on it. This is the chipset number and commonly used to ID the driver. You can also find the FCC number but frankly I don't have a lot of luck cross referencing FCC numbers. If all this fails look for any number stamped on the card and make note of it.

Once you have this go here (http://www.driverguide.com/guide/intro.htm) and use their search engine (step three) by punching in the numbers you found on the card. Make sure you use the driver that corresponds with the operating system your using.

Here is the username/password

UN:drivers
PW:all

If you can tell which company made the card, SoundBlaster, ATI etc,
then go to their site and get the driver there.

Although most cards are easy to identify some arn't so patience is a virtue. At least your not looking for a old modem...heh

Good Luck
