I have a geforce 2 MX400 with 64MB memory I have installed the latest Detonator drivers...40.02 i think, aswell as the latest version of direct X that was on the splinter cell disk.
My problem is that after only 10 minutes of playing...the buildings grass etc, all turn a luminous green and flash?.
Do you think it could be overheating..or just the fact that my gfx card can't cope with these new games? (BTW my gfx card only has a heatsink and no fan)
sytem specs:
Abit KT7A-RAID mobo
Duron 1300
256MB PC133 RAM
WD 80 Gig HDD
Aopen GeForce2 MX400 64MB
Windows XP Pro
Try using different drivers first.
Some Nvidia drivers seem to work better than others with different systems.
I initially used the older drivers that came with a GF4 TI 4400, and they worked great.
Then tried newer drivers, had all sorts of problems, and ended up going back to the original ones.
If different drivers do not fix things, then check your CPU and system temperatures either in BIOS or in a MB monitoring program.
If the system temp exceeds 40 deg. C, then remove the computer's cover, and run an external fan. If that works, then install an extra case fan or two. Recommended locations are upper rear and lower front of the case.
If the CPU temp exceeds 60 deg. C, then replace the thermal compound with Arctic Silver 3. If no luck, then replace the heatsink fan with a higher capacity unit. If still no good, then replace the heatsink with a more efficient unit.
Also, make sure that the DirectX installation does not have any problematic files, reduce your sound card's acceleration, and so not enable any special effects(3D stereo, stereo expansion, etc.) in your sound card's software.

Well thx for the reply....I couldn't get anything to work so I pushed forward my planned upgrade ;)
I bought an nForce2 which has a integrated geforce4 mx440 which suffers from none of my previous problems and allows me to run the game on higher settings.
The mobo uses twinbank technology for the memory which means that the 2 banks of 256MB DDR work together in the same way as a RAID hd setup making my sytem work more effortlessly.
I was kinda sceptical of buying a mobo with everything integrated but I can honestly say that it is an excellant board and suffers from none of the bottlenecks that most other integrated mobo's suffer from
Anyway ...i'm straying from the point, thx for the help anyway SKI ;)
