Hello to all, hows it going?
There's this computer at work (the youth director's) I had installed Partition Magic sometime in the pass, for obvious reasons. Well now I want to merge the two partitions. When I initialize the program I get this: Pmagic9x has cause an error in PMAGIC9X.EXE Pmagic9x will now close. and when I click on okay it says this: Init failed: Error 20 The library or the partition is not open. Now I've rebooted and uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times. I've even installed an earlier version. But I get the same thing. What can be done about this? OS/WinMe.

1. Make a bootable floppy disk;

2. In the Partition Magic folder you will find the text mode version, probably called PQMAGICT.EXE. Copy that file to the floppy disk. If unsure, read the help file looking for 'text mode' or 'command mode'.

3. Use the floppy to boot the system. Then run PQMAGICT from the the A:\> prompt.

I'm using an older version of Partition Magic; there is no way of 'merging' partitions. To 'merge' partitions A and B I would:

a. In Windows, copy data from partition B to partition A. (Assuming of course that you want to save the data on partition B.)

b. Boot from the floppy disk amd run PQMAGICT, then:

c. Delete partition B;

d. Resize partition A to occupy all the newly freed space.
