I JUST REINSTALLED WIN98SE AND MY COLOR AND RESOLUTION ARE INCORRECT. SETTINGS DOESNT GIVE ME THE OPTION OF INCREASING THEM. I HAVE UPDATED WINDOWS, THE COMPUTER RECOGNIZES THE HARDWARE, AND DRIVER BUT I THINK IT REVERTED BACK TO THE PCI VGA SETTINGS OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. IT IS A HEWLETT PACKARD 8140, RESOLUTION AND COLOR WORKED PERFECT BEFORE THE REINSTALL OF WIN98SE PLEASE HELP!!!

Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif
First thing: please stop shouting - all caps on the web considered shouting and rude. This is because it is very difficult to read.
That said: I am not clear on what you did. Did you reload the driver for the video? Did you try resetting to higher resolution in your video settings? Do you show any device problems in Device Manager? Is this the original video card that came with the computer or is this one you added, you said something about reverting back the the PCI VGA settings? Did you do a clean reinstall on a reformatted drive or did you install over the previous install? A reinstall over an old copy will often cause problems. Please provide more info so we can give you ideas on fixing it.

sorry for shouting.. yes i reinstalled over my win98se, i'm thinking maybe i have to find out the correct driver for my system. My computer recognized the video card and installed the generic driver on the cd. However, i think the reason why i dont have full color or higher resolution because i need another driver. Could this be a correct assumption??
Yes, you will need to get the correct driver in the correct version for ypur version of Windows from the video card manufacturer.

thanks for your input. I will try the manufacturers. I dont know if im allowed to ask another question, so I will try and if not supposed to please let me know.
I am networking 2 win xp computers together with a dsl modem/router. They both have internet access, but not simutaneously. Also they want to share file and print. Can you help me through this process?? I'm not sure why only one computer can access the internet at a time. And unsure about the file and print sharing.... Any help is VERY appreciated. (Not yelling, just emphasizing)

You can certainly ask another question..and another after that if need be..but you might need to start another thread with your "Network 2 computers using router" line. Networking is in different section, and we do have "networking" specialists who will respond to it faster if it's a separate thread.
