Does any one know why I keep getting a fatal exception O/E has occured at 0028.c0006EB2 in VXD VMM (01) + 00005EB2 message when I play games on my PC? I keep getting the message when I use the escape button. I'm running Win 98SE. It's a k-62 500MHZ, with 256K of Ram. I originally thought it was the game (G-Force), but now it's happening with another game, Viper racing. Where can I get info on Exceptions and error messages, so I can try and figure this out.

Memory seems to be the most likely culprit (VMM), but I'm not suggesting you run out and buy new memory...see if you can check it with another stick or if you have multiple sticks pull one, etc.

Have you done anything with the pc lately? new software? hardware? tweaking? been in the case? You could also check to make sure things are seated well.

Here are some links:

MS Bookmarks (http://rvi.net/~moke/MokeHlp/MSBMRKS.htm#pagflt)

And of course you could go to the MS KB (http://search.support.microsoft.com/kb/c.asp?fr=0&SD=GN&LN=EN-US) itself

Edit: Sorry, forgot that the CPU might be involved MS KB What are Fatal Exception Errors (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q150/3/14.asp)

VxD;
In Windows systems, a special type of device driver that has direct access to the operating system kernel. This allows them to interact with system and hardware resources at a very low level.

In Windows 95, virtual device drivers are often called VxDs because the filenames end with the .vxd extension .
