I have a friend that installed a copy of Rogue Spear on his computer.
According to him that is all that happened. The screen went black during
the install and the CDROM drive wouldn't open so he had to pry the CD out.
The CD drive still works ok. I have tried everything I can think of to fix
it. It seems to have a motherboard problem but I don't know how installing
a game could possibly cause that.
This particular game has caused a problem on several computers due to
incompatibility with various video cards but this is the first time I have
seen this. The mainboard is from MSI model 6330. The error LEDs indicate
the system is booting but it never gets to the point where it hits the
monitor that I can tell. At least I can't get to the BIOS screen. I see
the keyboard get tested but even after clearing CMOS I get nothing on the
monitor. Holding down delete does not get me to the BIOS. I have tried
two other video cards as well.Where do I go from here?

You might want to open it up.......check all connections (HD,Floppy etc) and then pull out the Memory sticks and try different memory.......It's either memory has gone bad or could be the mobo [assuming you put good vid cards in it]. It is unlikely the software caused this problem; however, installing large programs, like games, will "expose" any weakness in your system........the unit is working as hard as it ever will when you are loading, installing and configuring new programs.

Sorry not much help here http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif

Sea I have a couple of buds with fairly new Dell 4100's 800, 866 & 933 MHz PIII's all carrying the NVIDIA TNT2 M64 4xAGP cards...their Rogue Spear screens look shoddy, the text is usually full of lines and tweaking with everything from resolutions, refresh rates, color modes and even game detail-lowering doesn't cure their ills. I, on the other hand, have a beautiful visual in all areas of the game even on the highest settings running 1024 x 768. I'm using the ASUS V7100 32MB Pure. I haven't checked the video compatibility listings yet..

I found this forum (http://ubisoft.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/ubisoft.cfg/php/enduser/std_alp.php) that may help with install & compatibility issues. It's branched off of the Red Storm site which is now actually run by UbiSoft.

And on the topic of video settings changes...kids have a Voodoo 4-4500 32MB PCI and sometimes their screen defaults to a nasty resolution and the options to change are missing from the settings menu...gonna build them a new system shortly....soon as I get my son a laptop for college...so I'm not gonna stress over it too much.
