I can't figure out how to take this heatsink off at all. I included some pictures although I don't know if they're good enough to see how to do it. There is a heavy metal projection coming out of the bottom right side of the heatsink. It comes out at about a 45 degree angle and then the tip curves down over the first memory stick. It doesn't quite touch the memory stick but would have to be removed to get the stick out. Has anyone seen an attachment like this or recognize the brand of heatsink (maybe they have a website or downloadable manual).

on both of those pics it is still hard to tell but I would imagine that you would have to lift the tabs where it is hanging over the memory?? it isn't going to hurt to put a LITTLE force on it just don't get to carried away..the paste will be a little stickey until the seal is broke. try twisting the heat sink a little and see if the arms move? Are the oarms on the left like little flaps that pull back?

check out a couple of these http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_869_1073%5E6678,00.html

Pull the handle thingy back towards the socket while simultaniously pushing down.
It does look like bad placement of the Processor or RAM.

Thanks, guys. I did some checking on general heatsink installation and though I couldn't find anything that looked like mine it seems that it would have to work something like Zurke described. Of course how am I going to do that and stay on the internet at the same time. (I'm NOT addicted - I'm enthusiastic!)
