View Full Version : Spybot/HiJack This question

After I run Spybot, there is a laundry list of files/directories/registry entries that it has found. Some are in red, others aren't. Can I trust Spybot to determine what I should remove? Are there any obvious files that I should remove (wurldmedia among others) and any others that I shouldn't? Other than trial and error, is there any reference I can use to help determine what I should leave alone? The one particular entry that I don't know about is the "aconti dialer". It is in red, but I don't know if I should remove the five entries that are displayed. Same basic question for HiJack This. Other than posting the log and letting guys like MJC decipher it for me, any place I can go to try and learn this myself?

Get rid of Aconti Dialer you may also want to check thru your registry for anything partaining to this..also check your win.ini and system.ini files and in msconfig. Are you running a Firewall??? and Do you have file-sharing enabled?
look for anything that looks like C:\Windows\aconti.exe this is usually associated with "adult entertainment"sites..
Usually if spybot has it in Red it's Usually safe to delete But always double check to make sure...

I'm running Norton firewall and AV, plus I do online scans once a week using housecall and bitdefender. I am in the process of uninstalling Morpheus (my son uses it). Thanks for the feedback.
Some sites that can help chase down what things are:
