popups w/o a web site

Is there any way in heck to stop those instant message type popups in the Internet?

SORRY, I saw similar post and tried to delete but could not!

are these messinger service pop ups or instant messaging???? Be a little more specific...

go into services and shut it off or install service PK1 (I take it you have xp)?



Click Start, and then click Control Panel (or point to Settings, and then click Control Panel).
Double-click Administrative Tools.
Double-click Services.
Double-click Messenger.
In the Startup type list, click Disabled.
Click Stop, and then click OK.
