I have win98 SE, 128 MB Ram, and sometimes when I am online gaming, I notice it slowing down, and check the available memory, which is about 84 percent when I first boot the computer, keeps going down and down until the computer freezes up and i have to restart. Could this be because I have Gaurd Dog virus protection on my comp? What would you recommend for a better virus program?

I stayed offline for a whole day, turned off the virus protection, and played games on my comp, and at the end of the day when I closed the games, it was at 83 percent. But the next day turned on virus protection, and went online, and had to restart withing 4 hours.

Could this be it, and I have figured it out already? Thanks for the help . http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Actually, u did knida answer your question. When you play games online, u are constantly receiving information or files from the games server, thus gaurd dog has to keep checking everything that keeps streaming into your computer from the net, hence, slowing it down. I mean, personally, when I play games online, I try to minimize everything running on my computer in the background, even though, I have over 300mb of ram and a cable modem because online games really use up a big chunk of your memory.

There are a number of "Ram Freeing" programs out there that actually re-capture RAM for you on-the-fly.
Here is a good place to go: http://winramturbo.com/index.html
