If i enable the on-board sound on this biostar motherboard, the system will not restart. But if I leave it off (shut down for a few minutes) it will boot. 'Appears' to be no conflicts with sound card, but will not restart in win98 se. If it is disbled it will always work. IF I leave it off for a bit, it will boot, but hear no sounds any way. Once in a while, right after loading drivers I get a crack (one). But that's it. Any suggestions?
Remove the sound adapter from Device Manager, and restart.
If no luck, then make sure the volume controls are properly adjusted in Windows and on the speakers(if applicable), and all speaker connections are ok.
If still no good, then it's possible that the onboard sound adapter may be defective.
Did it ever work?

I've taken it out, as well as anything associated on the whole drive, I can disable it and I will get video (won't until I do) as soon as video starts, I enable (with jumper) and it will boot, I can install the drivers again, they disappear, or it will not boot. SOMETIMES I can boot and it will recognize the sound card (on-board) but disappears after install. Disappears before I can even check whether conflicts exist. I have no clue!

I am not sure I understand the problem, but if it is that your computer only runs with the onboard sound disabled, I would urge you to get a cheap PCI sound card and install it. Sound cards can be found for little or even sometimes nothing (after rebates).
