OE 5 locks ups

I am rinning OE 5 with Windows 2000 Pro. Whenever I open it to get email, it locks up. No response at all. When I do ctrl-alt-del, the task manager does not appear, just the background screen, but OE seems to be gone. At this point, I have to do a warm re-boot because the system is locked up.
Help...I guess I could always switch to another e-mail program.

Excellent idea. Highly recommended.

At the very least, update OE. The original OE5 that comes with Windows 2000 has many vulnerabilities. The update may well fix your current problem.

Try the procedures outlined here, I have seen it not only be very slow but lock up entirely.
