Whilst on the internet yesterday AVG(I have free edition installed & updated)flashed a window across my screen informing me that that the Trojan 'MusicSearch' had come into my computer. I ran AVG, as instructed, and it 'quarantined' the file and 'healed it'.
Curious, I searched on the net for more info on this trojan and AVG's abilities and found a comment from someone that AVG does not remove Trojans from the Win XP restore facility, and so all the restore points should be cancelled. Is this right ?

Actually most AV programs will not remove things from the Restore folder. The structure of the restore points is really to complicated for a third party program to interact with on the level of removing only a couple files, and then have that restore work reliably. After any kind of infection, it would be best to ditch the restore points any way, even if your AV claims they are clean.

...and it's very easy. Just turn off System Restore, reboot. All gone. Then manually create a new clean Restore Point.
