According to Microsoft's Web Site, you need a recommended 300 Mhz processor, 233 min. to run XP...I have a computer running a PII 233...i'm guessing that this is more than fast enough?

Well..... that depends...... on how......slow.........you ......like .....to ......go......!
MS is actually being a bit optimistic when they say 233 minimum. Also, usually the minimum RAM they recommend is not really enough. You probably can run it, but you will probably not really get the full benefit. If I wanted a more stable Windoze on that machine, I would go with Win2000Pro rather than XP. Just my opinion though.....

Besides the p233 being slow, what's your memory on the box. If it's less than 256 with the 233 you will be real slow. To take advantage of some of the fun stuff of XP you need a much faster machine. Nothing less than a p3 and as I said at least 256 of mem.

I would agree that on a 233Mhz processor, XP would be slow, but disabling most of the "phone home" and unnecessary junk will speed it up considerably. A default installation can have as many as 30 services running, but that can be cut to about TEN! See blackviper (http://www.blackviper.com) site for a good list of tweaks.
