Hello all, I will start at what i hope is the beginning. On February 23rd i went into microsoft update packages and added some new updates because i went from Windows 98 to Windows XP. One of the new choices was a driver that said it was compatible with XP. I looked up the directions for uninstalling my current driver for my printer and chose CJXP73LE.EXE. I have a Lexmark x73 all-in-one printer. I ran thru the steps for ininstall thru winzip as instructed and then added the new driver which showed up as an icon on my desktop. I use a USB port for my printer. When i went in to add the printer it would not allow me to. I did manage to add it once about a week ago, but then my scanner and fax did not get added at the same time. When i would start the computer and it got to the desktop the Found New Hardware Wizard would pop up and ask if i wanted to install my MFP scanner. I have two disks that came with the installation of the printer at purchase back in February 2002 and when i put this in it seemed to be downloading but after about 40 seconds my computer would shutdown, not go off, but automatically reboot itself. I installed or tried to install this more times than i realized. I called a tech line and they went thru a system test to check my hard drive and it passed with flying colors. Brad and i went thru the steps together cleaning out all the adds i had done and started over and still could not get the printer added. The icons down in the lower right hand corner of my monitor screen shows Found New Hardware, then it says USB Device, LexmarkLexmarkx73 are found also. I went into the Printers and other Hardware screen and there were no icons there. Brad decided after i had received this STOP message: Stop OxCOOOOOO7E (OxCOOOOOO5, OxEFOAC038, OxF9E7DA8C, OxF9E7D78C) that he didn't want to proceed any further as he did not know the meaning of these codes. I recently went into Device Properties and saw that it said the drivers for this device are not installed (Code 28), and USB Device is not configured correctly (Code 1). I am certain this problem is simple and i am just overlooking or looking too hard for the solution. Before i added the new driver it was print heaven. I did a check on the printer also thur Lexmark and it is printing just fine he said. He told me the problem was not my printer. I went into device manager today and saw 4 yellow question marks under imaging devices (all unknown). There was a big red X on top of a box with a - sign (network Adaptors) Realtek RTL 8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC. My gut instinct is that the driver/s i need are not on here and the problem may lie somewhere after i installed the updated driver in February. My brain is fried and i am probably leaving something out to tell you, but a conversation with a pro will help bring it into perspective i'm sure. Please help at your earliest convenience. Thank you in advance.
