I just installed a VD2 into my pc every thing seems to go in fine drivers, etc. When i right click on my desk top & choose properties nothing shows up so i can look at display. Even when i try to go to the control panel & get into from that way I double click the display icon & nothing. When i try to shut the pc down my end task bar will come up like its still trying to pull up display. Theres no sign of conflicts or the ! beside the VD card in device manager. Any clue to get my display icon to work.

Which OS?

Can you get to it in Safe Mode?

Any help from running dxdiag from the run box?

i tried it in the "safe mode" and it worked. {right click properties, setings but it shows my onboard video card so i try t change it over to "3dfx voodoo" and when i try to install it says "the driver thatyou have chosen was not written specifically for the selected hardware and may not work correctly"

As for the dxdiag, what am i looking for exactly? thx

You may have to disable your onboard video in BIOS or with a jumper on the motherboard to get the new card to work.

If it already says it is disabled in BIOS, then you don't need to do anything else with it, although given the problems you are having, I might try enabling, saving, going back into BIOS and disablling again.

I also tried to post an addendum, but PCGuide crashed on me.

What I was going to say is that it would probably be a good idea to boot into Safe Mode and remove the onboard video driver, then reboot into BIOS and make sure it is disabled. If you have the motherboard manual, check to make sure there isn't a jumper that needs to be changed for the video.

So im not sure where to begin to disable any thing in system bios. All i know about the MB is this the numbers i seeon the MB it self.

yes that is it, but i still dont see how or where to disable on board video? Or where to get drivers for the on board sound or video.

With some computers, the onboard video adapter has to be disabled both in BIOS(which it already is), and also in Control Panel/System/Device Manager.
If a 'Disable.....' check box is not present under the General tab for the video adapter in Dev. Mgr., then uncheck the box for 'Exists in all hardware profiles' in the same location, click OK, and restart the computer.

If the Display icon still does not work, then you may have to either reinstall Windows over itself, or format the hard drive and do a clean Windows install(You will need the Windows installation CD to do either of these).

K,i got the on board card disabled. It only sees the NVIDIA [Geforce] card. [device manager][display adapter]=Nvidia Geforce. But, it has an yellow exclamation point. So I right click, properties on the Nvidia to see device status and it says "the loaders for this device cannot load the required drivers.[code23]. I go to the "resources tab" and it says "this device isnt using any resources b/c it is not currently enabled or has problems. Then it goes on about, if i like to assighn resources manually but i dont have a clue how to do that. I know its there, display properties [settngs][advance][adapters] sees Nvidia geforce. k theres my problem.

p.s. IRQ channels, well lets see if you have an answer for that..thx alot for the support...

Ok, you may need to remove and reinstall the drivers for it.

ok, it still has the yellow exclamation point but in device status it says "this display adapter is functionig properly.[code23] but, the problem is with the main display adapter.Fix the main display adapter, and then this display adapter will work".k what should i do next? thx

According to your MB's manual, it does not have a built-in video adapter that has to be disabled in order for a video card to work:
http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/manual/mnu/spt_mnu_detail.php?UID=131&NAME=MS-6340M.

See if the following fixes the video card problem:
Press and hold the Del key during startup to enter 'CMOS Setup', use the arrow keys to highlight 'Integrated Peripherals', and press Enter.
If 'Init. Display First' has PCI enabled then highlight it, press and hold the Page Up and Page Down keys and simultaneously press the - and + keys to change the value to AGP, press the Esc key to return to the main CMOS Setup menu, highlight 'Save and Exit Setup', press Enter, type Y at the warning, press Enter, and Windows will load.

If that does not work, then start in Safe mode, remove all video cards from Device Manager, uninstall all video card software from Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs, restart the computer, let Windows recognize the video card, and reinstall its drivers.

Also, when you said in one of your previous posts "i know in "CMOS utility" but when I look for the BIOS it says its disabled...", exactly which item is disabled?
