This is a first for me ... I have no idea what happened.

Oh, I am running (still) WIN98SE, have a KMD450 processor, 640 RAM and have a 10 gig HD and 2.5 auxilliary HD.

I turned on my computer this a.m. The screen came up, but no taskbar, icons, etc. I rebooted ... same thing. Then I rebooted to command prompt, did scanreg/ and restore a good back up.

Same thing ... I did control alt delete to see what was running (because the screen was up) ... all it showed was runapp, nothing else.

Rebooted and scanned for viruses ... none. Tried to get to msconfig, etc. with no luck.

Checked directories, but couldn't edit config.sys. Had to leave to go to work, and left frustrated.

I am sure that it something simple, but I couldn't determine what. This is the first time that I had the screen come up ...

Any ideas?

Obviously, some virus or program and done something to my OS. I "re-installed" my WIN98 and almost everything is working again.

Before I re-installed, I would get my wallpaper up, but nothing else. When I checked to see what programs were running, there was Rnaapp. Does anyone know what that is? Rnnapp

Just curious. Goodnight!

Rnnapp is part of DialUp Networking.

On your reinstall, did you set up a firewall and AV software? If your dialup software was the only thing running, I would wonder about a hijacker/trojan....

On a clean install, unless you "tweak" it to say you are already registered Windows will attempt to dial out on the first reboot in order to register. This will start RNNAPP, also I belive that the default setup for DialUp Networking is "Always Dial"...which will also start RNNAPP.
