hello friends.

Could sombody tell me how is a clean instalation of xp?

I know how is a clean instalation of windows 98 (boot from diskette,
format hard disk , etc..)

But in windows xp I have not found how to make a "start diskette"
(I am spanish and I am not sure if literal traduction is ok)

Another thing is that the executable files of windows xp cd don't
work in ms-dos enviroiment.

Need I a pre-version of windows?

Thanks.

Make sure that the CD drive is the first device listed in the boot order, in the BIOS.

Then just stick the CD in, and boot. The XP disk is a bootable CD.

Hello juan,

If you purchased an "Upgrade" version of XP you will need to have your "pre" version to be able to load XP. You do not need a boot disk. I believe you need to go into your BIOS and set it to boot from your CDROM drive.

One of our regulars here, malcore, has a link for a trouble free installation order for XP and hardware drivers etc. Hopefully, he'll stop by shortly and leave the link...I cannot find where I placed it!
