I am running 98SE on the aformentioned Plll board with AGP, 1 ghz cpu, 512 meg ram, All I have installed now is the chipset drivers.
Network, modem, everything works. It just will not shutdown. I have even tried the MS shutdown patch
On the other 10 or 12 reinstalls I have gone as far as loading programs and using them, changing various BIOS setting.
I think you get the idea.

Lots of possibilities here:

I figured it out, it was the mouse cable, probably a short in it.
Thanks Sleddog, went throught 13 of those step on the aumha.org site and got so tried of not finding anything I went and started modding my mouse and had to replace it so someone else could use the machine  .... well thats how I got 2 and 2 to equel 9 ???

Just wondering, did you HOLD the button for 10 seconds yet?
Could be a "timer signal" failure on the off switch.....

Just a thought..but when I recently installed 98SE and remembered reading about shutdown problems with this OS, I went over and read through the aumha stuff (I then disabled the "fast shutdown" in msconfig)..and then when I went to MS for updates, I downloaded a "IDE Hard Drive Cache Package" or something similar. It introduces a two second delay in the shutdown..and I can "see" it now whereas originally it was shutting down so fast that I couldn't even read that "Windows is shutting down" message. I hope that it will prevent future shutdown problems, because it sounded (at aumha) like the patch is tricky to install and doesn't always work.

Hi no-mbr
Everything *works* right now
When I bought my KVM they said "Don't forget to get OUR cable they are very high quality"
Out of four three are crap. Was able to return 2 but they are now out of business. I think I'll just make my own.... They made them to short also.
