Hello. Does anyone have an idea why when I hit some links that worked previously, I am getting the message that the plug in did not initialize properly. Can I fix that or what?

Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif

You will probably need to tell us more about what plug-in is missing or what links you are trying to use. In the meanwhile, you could do a security scan to make sure you don't have spyware or some other nasty interfering with your system. I would run Spybot and/or AdAware in addition to whatever antivirus software you have, making sure you update first. You can download the spyware programs and other security software through links here:

When you post back, give us more info about your system too. Most importantly: what version Windoze are you using, have you changed any software or hardware recently, and was there any particular event associated with the change in your browser?

And just as importantly, what browser you are using (Indurnit Exploder, Netscape, AOL, etc.)

Thanks to those that replied. I run 400 mhz with 9 g of hard drive space and close to 320 megs of ram. The OS is windows 98 2nd edition. The problem started suddenly. I get my cell phone invoice online. This time when I tried to bring it up to print, I got the message about plug in not initializing properly. Here is a stupid question, what is a plug in exactly? It seems different than a link because links still operate ok. Thanks.

A plug-in is a small program that usually performs a specific function, like running a movie or, in this case, printing a document. You still need to tell us what browser you are using and try to find out what plug-in is missing.

For your cell phone bill: you could go to File in your browser and opt to Save As some type of HTM file somewhere that you can find it again. You probably will want to rename it so that it is easy to identify when you go looking for it. Once it is saved, you can probably print it in some other program, like MS Word...
