View Full Version : Adding an XP machine to our LAN

I have an existing LAN at my house. We have three computers (all running Win98) connected to a hub on a cable connection. Recently, we obtained a new computer running *cringe* Windows XP. I'm having trouble getting this thing to recognize the hub. I've installed the necessary drivers for the NIC card, but the new machine isn't able to see the network. I'm prompted to create a network wizard disk, but I don't see why every computer on a LAN should need new software simply for the XP machine to see it. There's got to be a simple way... perhaps add a new protocol? I'm stumped.

Does anyone know the hidden secret for this horrid OS? I've set up a LAN before, but never touched an XP machine.

Thanks in advance, guys.

Make sure "netbios over TCP/IP" is enable on the XP computer.

See here for details:
