I had to put my old hard drive into a used case with mother board and cpu. my old mother board was dead. it is a p2 350. it has win 98 plus and the video card says matrox 8mb. my qustion is it gives me 2 option for color, 2 color and 16 color. what do I need to do to get 256 color or better. is there something I can download or do I need a better video card? I thought the Os would give me more of an option! help please for those who is in need.

thanks for any replies.:(

It sounds like you need to install the correct video card drivers.

You should be able to download the correct drivers once you've identified the model number of your video card. You could try looking here. (http://www.matrox.com/mga/support/drivers/home.cfm)

Good Luck,

If you didn't reformat your hard drive and reinstall Windoze, you may run into other problems over time since the hard drive is set up for the old computer.

Thanks for both replies, I did find the driver from that site and I got several option for colors. I think about 6. and I do agree about formatting the hard drive. When I eventually turned on the pc after putting it into the other case and MB it took awhile to reconfigure itself. Anyway thanks for the help
