Which DVD recording format does everyone think will be the eventual winner? I understand there are 2 formats left in the battle?
Can anybody recommend a good DVD recorder

Actually there are still 3 formats, but one is used only for very limited purposes. The 2 that are most popular are DVD+RW and DVD-RW. I would get the Sony drive that does both:

It is a little pricey, but continues to get good reviews....

Dvd-r general works perfect for everything I need it for like data backup, dvd movies, and ps2 games plus it's cheaper.

DVD-RW is cheaper and more compatible, but while DVD+RW is more expensive, it has the potential to be even more compatible. DVD+RW also has a slightly better "data map" (method of storing data on the disc).
In any case, I also recommend the Sony drive that does both. It's not the fastest at either one, but being able to walk into any computer-related store and buy which ever DVD media they have just might be worth it. :D
