Help! I've lost over 7 gigs!

My PC froze yesterday when I tried starting it. I tried about 20 times and I couldn't get in either in safe mode or normal mode so I did a Supposed Non-destructive system recover (win xp home). Now I am in and everything but I am missing over 7 gigs of hard drive space. Also barely any of my programs that I had installed before work. I tried to uninstall them but they are not on the add/remove programs list...none of my old programs are so I just went and deleted the folders with these programs on them, but they appear to be still installed or something but i cant find them. Can anyone help me locate my 7 gigs of hard drive space?

It sounds like instead of actually repairing the exosting install it made a new one. I tend to be a bit pessimistic when things like this go wrong, but it sounds like a wipe and clean reinstall is in your future.
