This might be a newbish question, so please humor me :)

I have an 800MHz processor (I know, time to upgrade, but broke at the moment...) Anyway, when I go into the setup, I see the external clock speed (FSB) set to 100MHz, and the factory multiplier is 6.5. According to the motherboard manual, this would mean it's running at 650MHz? I noticed the multiplier goes up to 8x (which would make it 800MHz) but I haven't changed it yet. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

The multiplier is locked on all modern CPUs, so you cannot change it in the BIOS. Unless it is an AMD and you have intentionally "unlocked" it... Perhaps that processor is actually a 650?

Is this a PIII, if so the multiplier is factory locked and can't be changed, so setting it by the BIOS is meaningless. This means that it will runn at a multiplier of 8 no matter what.

Yes it's a PIII (Celeron 800). Thanks for clearing that up.
