View Full Version : The Internet
According to an email I received earlier this evening, verified by Microsoft and AOL the Internet will be ending at 11:59 pm EST. The end is happening because there will be no more IP addresses to assign. So instead of fixing the problem they decided to shut it down because of the proliferation virus and trojans. The RIAA applauded the decision, stating that it will mean a boost in CD sales.

That's the key dilsburger...Don't log off what ever you do! Your IP will be given to someone else!!! The RIAA applauded the decision, stating that it will mean a boost in CD sales.
HeHe...That's funny stuff mjc. Boy, wouldn't they love that! :D

I'm just wondering why they waited until the end of the day? Probably has something to do the aliens that infiltrated those 2 companies and have been posing as executives....

Good, I am glad to see this damn thing go. Just a big waste of time if you ask me. In back my day we didn't have the Internet we were just happy to an Atari and we like it!!!!. Back in my day I had to walk uphill (both ways)to school barefoot in the snow with no shoes on and we loved it!!!

They won't make it past the dam...

:D yep, that 6' drop will do em in! :D
On a serious note I assume being from the Baltimore area that you know a bit of the legend of the Dock Street Dam?
It is barely noticible on the mile wide shallow river, but the current/undertow below that dam has sadly taken many lives over the years. It's a good breeding area for the smallmouth bass and every spring/early summer the fishermen flock there with good reason. However the accidents happen almost yearly and many people have drowned including my wife's grandfather over 20 years ago. He drove up to the dam in his flat bottom late at night alone and never returned. Amazing strength and power the water posesses.
And now since the day is done, and we are no longer to have any fun, I am moving this to its permanent home.
mjc - forgot the rest of the article ...........
Microsoft and AOL announced that as from April 2nd the new Hypernet will be launched... faster, more interactive and seamless with all other home multimedia systems, Starbucks home electric coffee machines and microwave ovens.
A spokesman said that the new Hypernet will operate more efficiently after you upgrade all existing hardware and operating systems and will be on a new attractive user pays basis. It will carry the famous Microsoft Licencing system which will have the benefit of automatic daily renewal and upgrading which can be direct debited from your very own Microsoft Credit Card Account available from any AOL Bank.
The RIAA announced that all purchases of CD's from AOL or Microsoft Music Stores will come with pre-paid Hypernet Surfing cards allowing minutes of free surfing with every CD purchased.
