Hi,
Ok, I have been using the updated version of Spybot S&D including the immunization features. If I try and use certain sites such as w*w.ohhla.com (music lyric site) or porn sites or other picture sites I find I can't even access the pictures. This is obviously because spybot SnD is blocking the cookies and therefore blocking the pictures. I have just downloaded spyware blaster so I can control the cookie settings and keep some of the spies temporarily so I can access these pages. The only problem is which cookies do I keep?? How can I find out what cookie or spy a certain web page puts on my computer?????

also, with dialers can they only make your computer dial numbers if you download a .exe files (or another executable file)????
Problem one, it may not be the cookies being blocked that is preventing you from access. But, you shoul clean out your cookies, then temporarily disable your protection, then visit your usual sites.
Problem two, you do not have to agree to download the dialers, many are force installed, some masquerade as a picture, most exhibit some sort of trojan like behavior.

hey,
yes I've tried disabling and uninstalling the cookie protection and still it will not let me access these sites. I don't think it really does uninstall when u tell it to.

What os are you using and what error mesages are you getting?
Have you checked your security and content settings lately?
I have found mine changed before and don't know how they got changed, no one else messes with them but me.

Perhaps you have:
"Internet Explorer>Tools>Options>Content>Content Idvisor>Enable"
set?

First of all I'm using win XP , I'm not getting any error messages It's just when the pictures go to load their outline comes up with the little square in the middle but the pics don't load up. And no I don't have content advisor turned on.
Have you checked to see if your "load images" setting is still checked?

Daniel
Some of these dialers try to connect without your knowledge.
Turn up the sound on your modem as far as it will go.
This way if a dialer tries to dial out/redirect you to another number you will here the modem dialing out.
Or use an external modem and keep it sitting somewhere in eye view so you can watch the lights on the front of it.
Moden dialing sound bit of a nuciance under normal circumstances but here it will save you huge phone bills.

Daniel,
if you think you may have a dialler, or similar, I urge you download HIJACKTHIS (link in MJC's post) and see exactly what is running on your machine.
While Ernie's suggestion about turning the volume of the modem speaker up is good, I believe that there are a couple of these programs about that can turn it off regardless! Very nasty indeed

Nah I don't have a dialer, I just thought I'd ask about that at the same time. I have spybot SnD and have checked myself with hijack this and shown MJC. I'm sure those images in sites like w*w.ohhla.com aren't loading because that site relies on putting spyware and advertising on clients computers and when Spybot blocks it, the site doesn't let you view anything at all. I'm trying to overcome this but I don't know how!
