Floppy Drive

Have Compaq Presario 5600 450MHz PII, 192MB, 14.4GB, 2Yrs old, running Windows 98 with first two Patch Releases.

Problem: at random times floppy drive is being addressed by Windows in very rapid fashion - sounds like chattering. Floppy seems to work okay otherwise. Pretty sure problem stems from Windows - but have no idea where to take it from there.

Check your shortcuts for any that lead to the floppy, look fo any documents in the Documents on the start Menu, look for things running at start up like FindFast (if running MS Office), also virus scan...and iether clear or disable them...if your antivirus program is scanning the floppy maybe you can set to once per session...
