USB connect problems

I have a one year old HP pavillion, Win 98, I am trying to rehook up an HP 842 printer and a Microtek scanner via USB connects. These worked prior to dissasembling for a move and all efforts to reconnect have failed! Any ideas. Thanks

I would start from the top check to see if usb is enabeled in your bios, its probaly under chipset features if its enabled then go to add new hardware wizard go through the applet if windows does'nt pick up drivers choose i want to select hardware scroll down to you see USB hit next, I would just put drivers in, so choose have disk, put in drivers in cd rom. If that does'nt work try updating drivers off the Net. Don't mean to offend if you already tried this

Tried all the usuals, it worked after I forced the drivers off the cd at it again and again. I think there was a scratch on it. Thanks, JV
