ever notice how PC games, even with higher specs seem to make a character "stand out" as if it were a cut-out in comparison to playstation2/xbox/gc graphics? why is that? usually, the console version of a game seems to be more fluid, has better graphics etc...when in fact a PC can have higher specs plus games ARE programmed using a PC...

is this because PC's run on a platform???

Great article on this in cpu users mag. I think it was last month. Basically said that the consoles have alot less overhead than a pc and nowhere near the bottlenecks

You may find this recent thread (http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21075) interesting. Related to the same topic....

One wonders what the future of PC Gaming will be...And some good points about PC games VS consoles.

I am biased..need to say that up front. We have friends who know very little about computers, but only want to play games on their puters..so they are continuously installing games (often without checking the specs on the box..or they have no box because they're "sharing" the game with someone who actually bought it). They end up crashing the puter..again..and my beloved ends up over at their house "fixing" the puter..again. Much, much easier would be to buy a PlayStation, or whatever, and play games designed for that game puter. Or in the case of the two guys who are "worst"..they could both buy the same game puter(s) and trade out games, and take turns buying them. Or even rent some from the local video store. That would solve the "I think there is something wrong with my video card. It seems to jitter when I play such and such." and many other comments to my poor overworked husband.

Couldn't agree more Kay-
As you saw in the other thread...Give me a computer for putin', but give me a game box for gamin' any day!
The video card tweaking, bugs, incompatibilities etc. get old in a hurry! (IMHO of course) ;)
