When burning a CD and Copying a CD onto a CD-R I get the following errors.

T0100: I/0 error (02/30/00) - CD error – corrupted format
T0100: I/0 error (02/30/00) - CD error – corrupted format
T7118: TrackWriter error – Command retry failed

This is the first time I've received this error. Before this I haven't used my burner in a few months. Anyone know what my problem(s) could be?

Problems like these can be from many sources, so let's try to narrow the field a little...

Have you tried cleaning the drive? (using a cleaning disk?)

Have you tried a different brand of media?

How do you clean a CDRW drive? Or did I misunderstand you?

Thanks Matt H

For general cleaning there are special cleaning disks available. For more serious cleaning it requires a little disassembly and probably shouldn't be conducted on a drive still under warranty, although using the disk is ok.

I used a CD cleaner disk and that didn't work. Im goin to grab some different disks later today. Hopefully the new disks will work.

Is there a copywrite protection system in operation on the source disk?

As Sylvander asked: are you sure the disk you are trying to copy isn't copy protected? If it is, it is possible that it also installed a program on your system to block copying. I would run Spybot Search & Destroy to make sure that you don't have anything like that there and check the disk you want to record to make sure it isn't copy protected. One program that I have heard of that will block copying is called cdilla....

I have had the same message I/0 Error and sometimes corrupt files when "installing" programs after I upgraded to a newer mobo and Windows XP. I thought it was Windows XP but it wasnt and had found that either my CDRW is messed up, old IDE cable or something from my mobo. Still cant figure it out. I had switch out to an older 8x normal CDROM and it didnt give me any errors. Everything is updated on drivers, so go figure. My issue my be off the wall but try using someone elses burner if you can! If you can switch burners and you dont get any errors your CDRW might be bad. (Just an idea) Try and slow down your burn speed and is if that works.
