 I have a pentium 2 proceesor in an older pc... iwas installing my new cdrw and got it in. The next day iwas playing an mp3 file song and the pc locked up and the mouse would not move. i shut it off and restarted it. IT never would reboot fully to 2000 pro wch was installe on it. So I installed ME because my 2000 pro disk is scratched and unreadable. After sarting the process, ti was installing justne, then when it came time to reboot the pc to complete the installation... it just went to a screen that said "it is now safe to shutdown your computer"... and it shut down. I ried reinstalling the ME time and time again and no matter what i do, it always goes back to that screen on the reboot. It says that windows was not properly installed and it looks for minimal reboot, then it goes to the screen that says windows is shut down and it is safeto turn off your computer. So i bought a new ME disk to try again. BUt every single time it does the very same thing as the fisrt attempt to rebbot an complete instatllation.IT says:" it is now safe to shut down your computer"..then it shuts down and that is that. What am i doing wrong?
IS this a motherboard problem?.. or memory? (ram is 256 megs of sdram)., or is it a processor probelm?..it evidently is not a software problem....please help. Any one else had this problem?...I also installed a new powe suplly..but that did not help.
