Next month we will be replacing about 50 workstaions, I know you can sell / donate but because of their age and other reasons our company wants them stripping for spares and throwing away.

The CPUs are only 233 pentium's and 16 mb SIMM RAM modules.

These are to low spec for spares so as opposed to throwing away I dont mind trawling through the base sations for anyone who wants parts for a second project machine.

No CASES / Hard drives or modems and sound cards but plenty of cpu, ram, mobo.

If you would like some (FREE) then contact me via email, then send a self addressed parcel (so I'm at least not out of pocket) I'm in UK.

The only other thing I ask is that once you have recieved item and are happy that you make a dontion into this sites tip jar. (after you have recieved the item and are happy)

I will only pass out a couple of sets to each person intrested so I know it is for genuine hobbisits.

If I get anyone reply's intrested I will post my email.

:)

1. AT
2. Yes because yuo would have the board plugged to a US PSU.
3. Dont know I just know I dont want to be out the postage for trying to do a good deed but I can understand that the US postage could be more tha the kit is worth.

Only trying to help

Oh yes I understand that, and this is really just what I need for and old computer that I want to start rebuiding let me do some checking. Or maybe you could call your lacal post and see what it would cost to mail it and post it back here. Or in a private message. If you don't mind.

Lucias_Clay,

Sorry to interfere here, but you can certainly find old systems in the US for less than the postage required to ship them from the British Isles. If you get the word out among friends, coworkers and so on, you may even find a pile of them on your doorstep. Post a notice in a laudromat or whatever as another option. With AT computers even schools want faster systems, so they tend to get recycled or trashed rather than donated to be reused. The company I work for is switching over from old Pentium Compaqs to new Dells and they are simply recycling the slow ones while donating the faster ones.

certainly as light as a mobo is it wouldn't be all that high but I maybe wrong. As far as your other suggestions I have no friends(at least none that have computers) I have a few co-workers that have computers but most of them can barely send e-mails much less know what a mother board is.(not that they arent smart but are just getting into computers) One of my bosses seems to know some but I don't think he has spare parts. The town I live in is very small and it is hard to find spare parts without going to a shop and they tend to want new prices for junk parts. If the cost is prohibative no harm done. I just thought it would not hurt to check.Oh the schools around here I am pretty sure are not using anything with an AT mobo. I believe they my be using apples.

I checked with the US Postal Service and it would cost about $10 to send a 1lb. package to England. Four to six day delivery.

I don't know what it would cost to ship from England to the US but it's probably the same. Maybe skhips could check it out.

P233 processors seem to be going for around $18-$40 nowadays.

AT motherboards are getting real hard to find.

Oops,

I forgot about the fact that he is only sending mobos... That would be quite a bit lighter. I have shipped a few things to the UK and they weren't all that terribly expensive, but I was thinking of an old styly heavy AT computer and that would be... Just a mobo would probably come in well under $20 a piece. Shipping a couple together would be even less each. If you can determine the weight and dimensions of the package, you can get a pretty good estimate online for cost....

Edit:

Steve, you got in there while I was typing. There are really slow ways to ship that are a little cheaper, so you may want to check into them too if you are not is a hurry....

Drop me an email and I'll send you my address, if you find out the cost for a box roughly the size of a motherboard box or slightly larger I'll put in a AT board, 233 pentium, all the ribbions, 4 MB PCI graphics card and 2 x 16MB 72 pin SIMMS, floppy drive but I won't be offfended if you find out the postage is dearer than the value but as your'e in no rush you could see what the cheapest, slowest delivery is.

Steve I had just left the usps site when I read your post. However it seems that England has no way to check online.
Budfred I figured that was what it was.
Skhips if you would measure and weigh the parts and call yourlocal postal office and check on the cost I'll see about sending you the necassary things Thanks.:D
