Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif

Short answer: yes.

Long answer: there are a number of ways to do it that depend on your operating system. There are alos ways to do it with utility programs, some freeware and others you pay for. First thing I would do is check your Keyboard settings in Control Panel if you are using Windoze. If you are not or if you can't do what you want, post back with info about what OS you are using....

I don't know if this is what you want but I use it all the time... very configurable. It's called HotKey Control XP. Was featured in a lockergnome newsletter some time back. Oh, and it works on all Windows versions.

I'll look into it.

So it lookslike there isn't a way to program a key i.e., set a macro of several keystrokes or commands to one key ?

p.s. Is this reliable , easy to instal, no bugs or quirks ? as I will be using it at work, want to be sure it won't cause problems etc.

"So it lookslike there isn't a way to program a key i.e., set a macro of several keystrokes or commands to one key ?"

I am not sure how you came to that conclusion, but it is false... There are any number of macro programs out there that will let you programs keys to do what you want them to do and there are a whole bunch of keyboards that come with extensive programming options.

I have never felt the need to do this beyond a couple of simple options years ago, so I can't tell you which programs work best and safest, but they are out there...

What I was getting at was there doesn't seem to be a way to do it as an
Win 2000 option, lets say under control panel/keyboard ....

You have to go to these other software packages .

I only want a very few and was hoping for a way to do it without getting
other software.
