Bought new atx MB, CPU, Fan, 1 stick 128mb 133 mem and 300w ps. checked jumpers, and mounted the board in the case. The CPU fan spins and the bios came up. I figured everything was ok, so I shut it off added the FDD and then powered up. But No Video. (thats where I'm at still) I have reseated the video card, tried 2 other video cards, one other monitor. took the RAM out. I still could not get any video.
I get power to the board, Fan spins, LED indicates power to board. Well, I bought different MB and tried all this stuff again. Still No video..
Yes, I think the Proc 750 duron may be bad. But, the Fan always ran when I started the power... what am I doing wrong here.
I didnt even mount the last MB in the case, just set it on a piece of cardboard with just videocard,CPU and no mem. I still cant get to POST
How can I tell if the Proc is bad (without buying a new one)?
You have a great forum..
thanks

Let me be the first person to welcome you to this board.

If the system was working at first and stoped working when you added some devices then I would say there is somthing wrong with that device. Check the floppy drive ribbon cable and see If pin 1 is to pin 1.

Thanks, I did check it, it was correct. The system was never working so to speak. all It did was come to the POST screen. After adding the FDD, it would not give me any video. I removed the FDD altogether and it Still refused to display any video. Should a system display video (BIOS screen) if the memory is removed? I tried that, and I got no video.

I have a bench with a power supply and a monitor just for testing motherboards before I put them in the case.
You need a motherboard, CPU, memory, and a video card to test your system. Since you had already tested other video cards then the problem can be either MO, CPU, or mem. I say CPUs are 99% good and tested so it leaves you with MB or Mem.

I would say check your MO settings and jumpers and if you can try another memory stick in there to be sure that Memory is good.

The last place I look is the power supply.

What do you mean by POST Screen? Did you hear memory count clicks? If you had seen any screen or if you had heard the memory count then your problem is with your HD or FD.
