You may have done something wrong with your hard disk physically.
i.e., might be adjusting jumper setting or something similar.
First of all, go to the BIOS Setup by pressing "DEL" or "F4"( whichever is appropriate)
then check if there is any option of Auto Detecting HDDs.
Confirm that your hard disk is detected.
Then if still problem persists:
Boot from a CD and try reinstalling Windows.:

You might have left a floppy disk in the drive...;)

First try Steve's suggestion - make sure there's not a floppy in your disk drive. If not, we'll need to know what flavor of Windows you're running when you post back.

Tisha B: He means which OS do you have? XP, or Windows 98, or ME? That sort of thing. And yes, please make sure the floppy drive..that little thing with slot in front that takes the small square things..is empty. That same message came up for me not too long back, and scared me! Took a minute to think it over, and realize that I had left a floppy in the A drive accidentally the day before. Pushed the little eject button, and problem solved.

akif: I am not sure we are "there" yet. The time I booted my husband's puter up, I got a "you have no hard drive" or something similar to that...not "invalid system disk."

It's still important that we know which version of Windows you used on this computer before this started happening. Was it Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP?

If you're not sure, how old is your computer?

Tisha,

We do need as much info about your machine as possible, without knowing what version Windows you are running it would be hard to say what exactly the problem may be.

One thing it does sound like is that the drives may not be properly "seen" by the computer. It could also be a virus...just about anything. Knowing what you have will help narrow down whether it is a hardware or a software problem.

You could try booting with a boot disk and recopy your files but most likley you have a boot sector virus..

I am a little confused about the situation here. Is this a brand new computer??? Is this one you were using and it started having a problem???

If it is brand new, please provide whatever info you have so we can help you to get it up and running.

If it is one you were using before, please let us know whatever you can about the system, but also tell us what you were doing prior to the problem starting. Were you installing software or hardware? Were you using a file sharing program like Kazaa on the web?? The more you can tell us, the more likely we can help...
