Hi,

I just networked 2 new Dell PC's and networked them. XP is cool in the sense that it does all the leg work for you. However, sharing the printer (HP PSC 2100 w/USB) seems to be a problem. It's all set to share but the second PC can't connect. Please advise.

When you setup the Printer on the second system
How did you add the printer drivers ?

I found it best to start by downloading the latest HP drivers.
Then install them on the Host first and allow it to run
Setting it as a shared printer

Then add the networked printer to the second system
Allowing it to pull the drivers off the first system .. Not from the CD

On the computer with the printer installed open the printers and faxes applet in control panel. Right click on the printer and choose sharing. Choose share this printer. you can name it if you have more than one printer installed (if you need aditional drivers you can install them at the bottom of this dialogue box). On the other computer open the printers and faxes applet in control panel. Click on the add new printer icon choose network printer than browse for the printer on the other computer be sure to select the printer not just the other PC after you select the printer the driver settup program should start and install the drivers and set it as the default printer if there isn't a local printer installed.
