Hello

I'm having a problem when I use my CD ROM or floppy drive. When I use either of these devices I continue to get pauses and delays in the graphics and sound. It started when I installed an additional 256 of DDRAM.
Im running WIN98SE
1.2GHZ Athlon
512 DDRAM
HP CD writer and a Creative 12X DVD
Biostar M7mia mother board
I'm not sure about the floppy drive

I first noticed it when I played videos from one of my CD ROM. The sound and video were off. I copied the file to my hard drive and it worked like a charm. Then it started happening with other programs that I tried to run either from the floppy or either one of my CD ROM's. When I'd scroll down a page using Adobe Acrobat Reader after a few scrolls, it pauses and I can hear the floppy sound like it's trying to catch up. Can anyone relate?

Look for document shortcuts leading to the floppy, clear the recent documents list, empty the recycle bin, defrag...general clean up and maintenance type things do alot to clear up these kind of problems.....

Hi,

If MJC's advice does not work....I have a "possible" explination for your problem that most people will think I am nuts (possibly true) but your problem could be too much RAM! There are some motherboards and set ups that max out at around 256 meg of RAM. Go back to the 256 meg RAM and if your problem goes away, then I think you have solved it.
