This has been bugging me for a while now and it just seems to get worse. Everytime I click on an icon on the desktop or folders or sub folders (everything else is fine) It hangs the PC for literally a minute or even 2 minutes before it appears. This all started to happen once the A: went loco and decided to eat up a disk. The disk was forced out and the A: pretty much stopped working. Latetr I disabled the A drive a took out the cables etc. Still the problem persists and PC diagnostic programs do jack. Any help? Please...... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

You know I'd really like some help http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif
A little more info would be helpful... you said the disk was forced out...is this a plain old floppy or an LS120?
Some more specs would also be helpful.
Check the performance tab in systems properties, are you running in MS-DOS compat. mode?

Hmm, From what i understand you have no floppy drive. Try going into your BIOS and telling it to report no floppy drive for windows. Or Just get a new floppy drive. how much could it cost? Its a damn floppy drive!

Actually going into Bios doesn't work. Tried that, and it's a 3.5 inch floppy.

Run scandisk.
As a test disable any anti-virus software.

Boot into safe mode and remove the "A" drive. Reboot and test.
If it still fails to perform then try the steps in this KB aritcle: Q189518 (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q189/5/18.ASP?LN=EN-US&SD=gn&FR=0&qry=Q189518&rnk=1&src=DHCS_MSPSS_gn_SRCH&SPR=CHS)
The aritcle is not specific to your problem, but the solution may work for you.
Good luck http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
